Environmental Educator Position in Jupiter

The Loxahatchee River District announces an opening for an environmental educator at its Loxahatchee River Environmental Center (River Center). This position helps students and visitors explore new areas of environmental science and promote literacy and awareness of the Loxahatchee River and south Florida environments.

The environmental educator will develop and perform environmental educational programs at the River Center. This position will be responsible for conducting, developing, and initiating education and outreach programs for the River Center. Audiences include: school children in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, scouts, adults and families. The environmental educator is expected to network with fellow institutions of learning and environmental groups. The environmental educator will also coordinate volunteers and interns.

Administrative duties will include gift shop inventory and maintaining records for the Friends of the Loxahatchee River membership. The successful applicant should have a bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, education, or related field, and have experience in either formal or informal education. Additional certifications in CPR/First Aid and lifeguarding a plus. Salary range: $28,000-$38,600 -commensurate with experience.
