Counting Butterflies

There will be a butterfly monitor training class on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 9am- 3pm at the Camp Bayou Outdoor Learning Center in Ruskin. This 6 hr training includes butterfly identification and learning the proper protocols to conduct regular surveys of the butterflies. The class is led by Dr. Akers Pence, a researcher from University of Florida for the Florida Butterfly Monitoring Network. While the training is free, those who sign up must commit to doing monthly monitoring at a local preserve, either Camp Bayou or Cockroach Bay. For more on the Florida Butterfly Monitoring Network, visit http://www.flbutterflies.net. Contact Dolly at 813-363-5438, or email at campbayou@yahoo.com, if you are interested in taking this training class.

Camp Bayou is located 3 miles south of SR 674 at the end of 24th St SE in Ruskin. Camp Bayou is a partnership between the Ruskin Community Development Foundation, Inc. and Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation.
