Public Issues and Conflict Management training

Where: Polk Nature Discovery Center; Circle B Bar Reserve near Lakeland When: Weds-Thurs, December 5-6
What: The Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program (CHNEP) is hosting "Public Issues and Conflict Management," a two-day training to help businesses and organizations in their efforts to protect the natural environment of Florida. NOAA Coastal Services Center will provide instruction designed to increase participants' ability to design, conduct, and control public or targeted meetings.
Why: Participants will learn techniques to reduce conflict, enhance cooperation, and achieve meeting objectives in a timely manner. They will also learn how to use and practice facilitation skills to enhance communication between diverse groups with multiple perspectives. After completing this course, participants will be able to:

- Design and conduct collaborative processes for reaching consensus on public issues
- Understand how to deal effectively with the media in the public issues management process
